Wind Dancer is by artist Rita Nevin (daughter of Arthur Nevin)
After graduating high school, Reita served a five-year apprenticeship at the Nevin Workshop1 learning colorist and intaglio printing techniques under her father, Arthur Nevin, developing the skills necessary to qualify her as a professional fine art printer. Upon completion of her term as an apprentice, she became a registered intaglio colorist and printer and for several years worked with various artist/printmakers associated with the workshop. In 1978 Reita was certified as a Master Printer and, in addition to her regular duties, she began giving intaglio printing instruction to a group of area artists. In 1979 she became a full partner in the Nevin Workshop. In 1980, Reita began collaborating with her father on a number of wildfowl backgrounds for the American Decoy Series2 published by the workshop and recently has branched out on her own with a series of aquatint and mezzotints depicting northeastern American waterfowl.
Reita studied fine arts under Barbara Rudolph Zeller; line, form and sculpture under Lawrence Glasson, and watercolor under Richard Rickson. Her technique is extremely sculptural and highly involved in technical expertise, using up to fourteen colors or shades of colors for one image.
Reita and her husband live in New York City where they enjoy the creative atmosphere and inter-relationship with fellow artists.
